Becky Bunny Character Design

Ministry of Social and Family Development

How we brought a new Singaporean mascot to life!

As a child, I was captivated by mascots that taught us important causes and values, and I often dreamed of creating one myself. How amazing would it be to see your design come to life and become a cherished part of someone’s childhood? So, you can imagine my excitement when the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) approached me to create exactly that!

The mission was to design a character children could grow up with, one they’d remember fondly and eventually share with the next generation. That’s how Becky Bunny was born—a spirited, adventurous bunny brimming with curiosity and joy for all that life has to offer.

Becky is joined by her family, representing a typical Singaporean household embodying values like Love, Care and Concern, Commitment, and Respect. Together, they embark on all kinds of adventures, whether it’s having fun at experiential playgrounds or starring in McDonald’s picture books for children. Seeing Becky’s mascot in person for the first time gave me goosebumps, especially when I noticed the snaking queues of families eager to take a photo with her! It’s a surreal feeling knowing she’s making memories for others, just as mascots did for me.

I’m proud that Becky Bunny stands tall among Singapore’s beloved mascots, and it was a true honor to see her share the stage with Sharity during the National Day Parade 2024! Moments like this remind me of the lasting impact a simple character can have.
