Marvellous Mammals: A Wild A-Z of Southeast Asia

If you had to pick just 26 mammals to represent Southeast Asia, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, where would you even start? That was the exciting challenge I took on with Debby Ng for Marvellous Mammals. This book is a celebration of the incredible and often overlooked wildlife from this vibrant part of the world.

It’s a shame that many of us grew up reading about badgers and foxes, but haven’t heard nearly as much about the fascinating creatures right next door in Southeast Asia. Marvellous Mammals shines a spotlight on 26 mammals from diverse families, found across the region’s many habitats. From lush rainforests to coastal wetlands, these mammals are the true stars of Southeast Asia—and we hope they’ll inspire you as much as they’ve inspired us.

Working on this project was such a humbling experience. As an animal lover, I realised just how little I knew about the rich variety of mammals in this region—and I’m certain you’ll learn something new, no matter your age! Our hope is that, as you read, you’ll share in our wonder for these incredible creatures and feel inspired to do your part in protecting nature.

Marvellous Mammals was officially launched at The Art House during Singapore Writers Fest 2021 and we had a wonderful display at Books Kinokuniya too!
